The joint R&D team established by the Digital Model Design Center of CIMC Vehicles, Qingdao CIMC Reefer Trailer Co., Ltd. and CIMC Vehicles Shandong Co., Ltd. developed the Golden Brand containers and Greenbody containers

Its always the happiest time for me to deliver new products. On December 8, Shu Lei, head of the Digital Model Design Center of CIMC Vehicles (Group), delivered the first Golden Brand containers and Greenbody containers to customers and officially announced that CIMC Vehicles added new refrigerated transport products.

CIMC Vehicles has realized a new breakthrough in the development of refrigerated containers with its world-leading digital model design technology and Refer1.5 roaming process and further strengthened its leading position on the refrigerated transport equipment market with its technological advantage of “lightweight, good thermal insulation, large capacity, and long service life.”

The refrigerated transport equipment market in the future will be dominated by containers and semi-trailers. “We must be prepared for the next five years which is a golden period for the growth of the cold-chain logistics industry.” Shu Lei said that “We can easily realize the quick switchover between the ‘Golden Brand skeleton trailer’ and the ‘Golden Brand refrigerated trailers’ as well as that between ‘van truck body’ and ‘central axle truck body’ through the change in the combination of modules. We believe that we can offer options to our customers with such changes.”

In recent years, CIMC Vehicles has been dedicated to enhancing its capability of independent R&D and its productivity. It has established an innovation committee for incubating new projects, launched the “global personnel training program” for attracting and nurturing outstanding human resources, made great efforts in the research on applied technologies, participated in the preparation of national and industry standards, and constantly pioneered the technological breakthroughs in the industry.

“CIMC Vehicles has always been a creator and a leader in the cold-chain logistics sector. Our team is always getting their hands full and we are in an urgent need of outstanding persons.” According to Shen Jianwen, Technical Director of CIMC Vehicles (Group), Shu Lei has been terribly busy during the past six months.

As the coach and team leader of this project, Shu Lei spared no efforts in the application for the project, the establishment of the team, the development of the technical criteria and route, and the establishment of the joint R&D team. Members of this joint team were selected from the plants of CIMC Vehicles through an actual competition with persons most suitable for the needs of the project being chosen. The team has attracted wide attention from suppliers and customers both at home and abroad with its brilliant achievements in the joint R&D efforts.

There will be gains by making efforts. The Golden Brand containers and Greenbody containers delivered on the ceremony are armed with multiple “cool technologies.” They are the leading products “made by CIMC” with which CIMC seizes the initiative on the domestic cold-chain logistics market and becomes the preferred supplier of the domestic customers. It is understood that these products boast three breakthroughs. First, the cross-sector design on semi-trailers and multiple patented technologies from North America are applied and the world-leading Reefer1.5 foaming equipment characterized by numerical control, high pressure and low density is used to ensure the uniform density of the foam and the surface evenness and to improve the thermal insulation performance. Second, eco-friendly materials such as high-strength zinc coated sheets or aluminum external container plates, thermoplastic internal plates, and environmentally friendly foaming agent and sealant are used, making these products the first to meet the safety standards of “odour free and anti-corrosion” for food transport. Third, advanced smart technologies and patented design such as smart sensor LED, smart temperature-controlled fans, and smart temperature measurement are adopted.

With the increasingly booming demand on cold-chain transport from China’s medical and food sectors, it is expected that the compound growth of reefer trailers in the country will reach 10% to 20% within the next three years, with demand exceeding 150,000 units. According to Shu Lei, these are products developed with concerted efforts of the headquarters and its subsidiaries and the combination of CIMC Vehicles’s strength in R&D, production, and sales. He said that “We are fully confident in the competitiveness of our products and will sell more high-end products across the country.”
